A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust due to the expansion in urgent & emergency care services at the Trust as a senior pharmacy assistant. As a result of a widening catchment area of patients attending Walsall Manor Emergency Department in recent years and following the opening of Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust are seeking staff to continue to support the Trust's journey to be a leading provider of care for our community. The investment is part of a wider suite of investments across our Trust in recent years, including:o The introduction of a new £40 million Urgent & Emergency Care Centre;o A £10 million capital development to include extension to the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, Hot Imaging Suite, Same Day Emergency Care Unit and Staff Support Facilities;o A £ million reconfiguration of Operating Theatres;o £ million/year investment to expand our workforce across the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care, Acute Medicine, and Emergency Surgery including roles for Doctors, Nursing and Advanced Practice.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work under the supervision of a Medicines Management Technicians and Pharmacists. Your main duties will be working on wards carrying out near bedside dispensing, patient interview and counselling for discharge. In addition the ward based teams are heavily involved in the governance of medicines through out regular cycle of audits.

You must have good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to show you are self motivated and flexible in your approach to your work to meet the requirements for our developing service.
You are expected to work within key performance indicators as part of the service provision and show that you can work on your own initiative with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, Nursing staff, Medical staff and other healthcare professionals in line with the Trust values.
To support both our ward based services and dispensary we use automation through our ROWA robot and automated storage cabinets at ward level. The Pharmacy utilises aspects of our EMIS/Ascribe system to automate ordering and checking wherever possible.
To support your development, local training will be provided on medicines management to the successful candidates and your development needs will be identified through an annual individual performance development review.

NVQ Level Qualification in Pharmacy

1. NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy
Dealing with patients/general public face to face oe working in a customer focused environment

2. Significant experience in hospital pharmacy, which encompasses a broad range of specialised experience. Able to work as part of a team and take instructions.
3. Experience of Customer Care Services-Able to communicate with all grades of staff internally and externally. Able to act as a mentor and train staff
