Job Title: Respite Peer Navigator

Position Overview:
Are you passionate about helping others in their recovery journey and looking to gain hands-on experience in the field of addiction recovery and human services? Zero Hour Life Center’s Respite Peer Navigator position offers a unique opportunity to develop practical skills while working directly with individuals navigating substance use recovery.
This role is ideal for students or recent graduates studying addiction counseling, psychology, social work, or related fields. Respite Peer Navigators work in a supportive and collaborative environment, gaining invaluable experience in peer support, resource navigation, and trauma-informed care principles.
As a Respite Peer Navigator, you’ll be part of a team dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming space for individuals staying at our respite house. You’ll assist residents by offering support, helping connect them to resources, and empowering them to take meaningful steps in their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide Peer Support:
Build rapport with residents by offering encouragement, empathy, and a sense of community. Share hope through recovery-based conversations.
* Resource Navigation:
Assist residents in connecting with local recovery and support services, such as housing programs, employment resources, and mental health services.
* Individualized Support Plans:
Work with residents to identify their goals, strengths, and needs, and help develop personalized recovery plans in collaboration with staff.
* Crisis Management (Supervised):
Support residents in managing challenging situations by practicing trauma-informed and person-centered approaches, with guidance from experienced staff.
* Collaboration:
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including clinical staff and other peer specialists, to provide holistic support to residents.
* Learning Opportunities:
Participate in team meetings, training, and mentoring sessions to further your understanding of recovery work and gain professional development skills.
Qualifications:
* Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in addiction counseling, social work, psychology, human services, or a related field.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a natural ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
* Compassion, empathy, and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
* Familiarity with trauma-informed principles or interest in learning them.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and willingness to learn.
