ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES: Assessment of strength and stiffness of composite and hybrid structures Assessment of joints bolted and bonded Performing non - linear and linear FEA Optimisation of design solutions Micromechanical/Microstructural Material Modelling Analytical and numerical methods development. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES the role will grow into the following activitries: Simulation of cure kinetics, residual stresses and shape distortion Simulation of Resin flow through porous material Deliver technical solutions using knowledge of various numerical techniques including FEM, BEM etc., for the simulation of manufacturing processes Analysis of material variability and defects. Relationships and stakeholders: Provides a key link between the Manufacturing/Tooling and Design teams Meetings, monitoring and reporting: Participate and on occasion run technical meetings, both internally and externally Provides monthly reports to the Capability Manager Manage and control budget and spend allocated for given projects Essential Experience: Excellent knowledge of various numerical techniques including FEM, BEM etc., for the simulation and assessment of component strength and stiffness using software packages such as Abaqus, MSC Nastran/Patran/Marc, Hyperworks Optistruct, desirable - ESIPamRTM/PamFORM/SysPLY, CZone, Helius Good theoretical understanding of the Mechanics of materials including composite materials Micromechanical/Microstructural Material Modelling Development of analytical and numerical methods for assessment of composite/hybrid structures. Excellent IT skills and report writing abilities. Highly competent at using Microsoft Excel, Word Powerpoint and Outlook. Additional Experience: Knowledge and simulation of cure kinetics, residual stresses and shape distortion Knowledge and simulation of Resin flow through porous material Understanding and analysing material variability and defects Qualifications: It is essential that as a minimum you have a degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering.
