Due to continued expansion, Carnival UK is recruiting Safety Officers As a market leader in the cruise line industry, we operate spectacular ships all over the world. Each time we hit the seas, there's one thing we never, ever compromise on the safety of our passengers and crew. And as Safety Officer on board, you'll make sure that it always stays that way. As the most senior deck officer after the Deputy Captain, you will investigate all major and serious accidents and incidents, and will manage a small team of Deck Crew leading the day to day planned maintenance of safety and emergency equipment. In addition to this you will maintain oversight of the shipboard emergency response organisation and ensure all key emergency response positions are covered by suitably trained and certificated persons. As a Safety Officer you are expected to remain fully competent as a watch keeping Officer, and may be required to supplement the Bridge watch and to take 'the charge' during these times. Professional at all times and absolutely calm under pressure, you'll lead by example proactively leading the safety culture, putting health and safety at the heart of all planning and decision making. To join us as Safety Officer, you'll need your Master's Unlimited (II/2) certificate as well as experience in rank as Safety Officer. As you'd probably expect, we're looking for someone with a good technical understanding of how cruise ships operate and sound knowledge of issues such as health and safety rules and regulations. And together with great leadership skills, you'll need strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Experience on board a cruise ship is essential.
