Full time starting salary is normally in the range £32,296 to £34,866 with potential progression once in post to £39,105

Background
The University has an exciting vision to build on the success of REF2021, continuing to transform its research performance. Central to this ambition is the Research Strategy & Services Division (RSSD), established to provide a transformative approach to research strategy and support.
Role Summary
The Research Support Officer (Grants & Contracts) sits within the College Research Support Team and provides academic facing support to researchers across all elements of pre-award research support, including costing, approvals, and the setup of successful bids.
Main Duties
* Contribute to the identification of funding opportunities and disseminate them to academic colleagues.
* Provide support for research applications, including preparation of budget information and managing the submission process.
* Support the acceptance and setup of new awards from funders.
* Manage additional awards to existing projects, ensuring costings and documentation are complete.
* Ensure correct internal approvals and due diligence are in place prior to submission of proposals.
* Maintain accurate entries in the Research Grant management system.
* Assist in the preparation and maintenance of standard texts for applications.
* Arrange and contribute to application pipeline reporting and meetings with academic colleagues.
* Contribute to the development of complex bids in liaison with other RSSD professionals.
* Undertake any other appropriate duties as required by the Line Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
* Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications); significant practical relevant experience may substitute for qualifications.
* Evidence of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly and analyze information.
* Knowledge of the UK research funding ecosystem is desirable.
* Experience of engaging with stakeholders to build teams and deliver outcomes.
* Experience in improving processes and delivering high-quality customer service.
* Excellent analytical skills to present qualitative and quantitative information.
* Proficient IT skills, including MS Office and corporate systems.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* High level of self-motivation and accountability.
* Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and commitment to equality and diversity.
