Location: North Scotland (Cru'a'can Power Station, Dalmally) or North Wales (Llanberis, Snowdon)
Contract Duration: 6 Months (possible extension likely for another 6 months +)
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter B with an overhead crane licence to join the team for an exciting hydropower project. This role includes all the responsibilities of a Mechanical Fitter A, with the added responsibility of operating overhead cranes for complex lifts, ensuring safety and precision in all tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Disassemble, install, and assemble turbines and generator components.
2. Operate overhead cranes for complex lifts (CPCS A62 & A64 required).
3. Use and maintain mechanical tools and devices.
4. Troubleshoot, repair, and commission machinery.
5. Coordinate with other team members to ensure safe and efficient lifting procedures.
6. Ensure that overhead crane operations meet all safety standards and procedures.
7. £22.20 per hour (Days), £28 per hour (Nights)
8. Accommodation paid for on-site or £350 per week accommodation allowance (depending on location).
9. Travel covered at the start and end of the project.
10. 38 hours standard + overtime (expected 50 hours per week on project).
11. Overtime paid at an additional higher rate.
12. Standard holiday allowance + bank holidays (prorated for duration of contract).
Requirements:
1. Previous experience as a mechanical fitter in turbine or generator maintenance.
2. Overhead crane licence (CPCS A62 & A64) for complex lifts.
3. Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
4. Health and safety awareness and adherence to all site safety protocols.
5. Ability to work in remote locations and under challenging conditions.
6. Level 3 Qualification (e.g. Recognised Training Scheme or Apprenticeship) appropriate to Mechanical Engineering.
