We are looking for a Catering Assistant/Cook who wants to help make a difference to the lives of young people through delivering healthy, nutritious, and tasty meals at Trimley St Martin Primary School. We are looking for an organised, hard-working and passionate individual to ensure that the food quality, presentation and service provided is to a high standard. Candidates need to be passionate about delivering an efficient service to our students whilst ensuring we maintain great customer service and high food safety standards. You will assist our Head of Kitchen with all planning, preparing and cooking of meals to the required standard and upholding our high level of hygiene and cleanliness which includes setting up service areas from the kitchen or dining areas, so they are ready for mealtimes and tidying away once service is completed. The position also includes an aspect of “stepping up”, if/when the Head of Kitchen is absent. The candidate must be willing and able to take on the role of Relief Head of Kitchen. Overtime hours will reflect Relief Head of Kitchen role. (A relief head of kitchen is a temporary role that involves managing the kitchen in the absence of the permanent head of kitchen and be responsible for: Ensuring high-quality food service Maintaining health and safety standards Ordering and controlling stock Monitoring and recording meals produced Keeping up with legislative changes) This is a term-time only position, working 38 weeks per year, offering a great work-life balance. Pay will be pro rata, receiving 1/12th of your salary every month. You will become an integral part of the school team, supporting with the preparation and serving of lunches for young people and school staff, ensuring an engaging and interactive experience for all. You will need to: be reliable and punctual be thorough and pay attention to detail be a good team player be able to be flexible to undertake additional hours if required preferably have previous experience and qualifications although on the job training can be provided.
