Role Summary
Product Governance is a specialist first line product governance centre of excellence, operating within EQ's UK Shareholder Services division ("UKSS").
The function is responsible for assisting UKSS's commercial owners in meeting their product governance obligations, acting as custodian for the product's profile, including maintenance of its terms and conditions and supporting documentation, providing specialist product governance support to the wider UKSS division.
The nature of this role requires a candidate with strong product expertise, as well as an understanding of product-related regulatory frameworks. We are looking for an accomplished applicant with relevant product experience, supplemented with wider business knowledge from other roles, to play a key role in the Product Governance function for UKSS division.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
* Maintenance, and continued enhancement of several product profiles, acting as a trusted and collaborative product governance expert to the division's commercial owners,
* Fostering strong stakeholder engagement with regards to product governance; advising senior stakeholders regarding potential solutions to complex issues and regulatory requirements such as consumer duty, as well as driving ongoing compliance,
* Delivery of effective product governance practices across multiple products, ensuring high standards of governance are established and maintained, as well as representing the Product Governance function at other governance forums,
* Advising the business in its identification and management of emerging product-related risks and ensuring strong engagement with other risk and compliance functions,
* Providing expert insight and advice to senior colleagues in Group functions, such as Group Compliance, regarding enhancements to product governance policies and how practices are delivered within the division.
* Being a trusted and collaborative product governance expert for risk and compliance specialist functions in the second line of defence,
* Being a trusted and collaborative product expert for internal and external assurance activities performed across the three lines of defence, providing input and expertise to guide these assurance activities,
* Supporting the delivery of a strong product governance structure and culture within UKSS.
* Personally comply with, and promote, the Conduct Rules set out in the regulatory Code of Conduct Sourcebook, and any future changes thereto.
Skills, Capabilities and Attributes
* Demonstrable experience in product governance or related disciplines, with a proven track record of managing senior stakeholders.
* Demonstrable strong expertise in product-related regulatory frameworks and practices within the context of FCA-regulated financial services businesses.
* Proven experience in leading product governance meetings, ensuring internal policy requirements and control standards are adhered to.
* Ability to work across multiple products and services, partnering with second line functions including Legal, Compliance, Risk, Financial Crime, Data Protection, and Information Security, as well as Internal Audit.
* Astute problem solver; strong analytical skills and highly competent with Microsoft Office.
* Strong work ethic, with an ability to self-organise and motivate, as well as an ability to manage multiple priorities and work to schedules, delivering high-quality output.
* Excellent stakeholder management, with an ability to empathise and consider various points of view to drive desirable outcomes for the business.
* Able to communicate and challenge in a succinct and clear manner with senior stakeholders (both internally and externally) and present advice and viable solutions clearly so that stakeholders can assess implication prior to making key decisions.
