Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist - Band 6 (rotational cross site)

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Neurological Physiotherapist to join our physiotherapy team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
The rotations span the University Hospital Lewisham, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Greenwich, and Lewisham Community Services and together will offer you the experience of working across four vibrant London Boroughs - Lewisham, Greenwich, Bromley and Bexley.
This is a specialist rotational post that will offer opportunity to rotate every 8 months to:
* A large stroke service (50 beds)
* Neurology outliers teams
* Neurology outpatient services
* Bromley Stroke Team (a multidisciplinary team which provides a service to adults within Bromley)
* Lewisham Community Neuro team (including early supported discharge, in-reach to acute sites, community caseloads including stroke and long term neurological conditions)
Main duties of the job
You will receive support from experienced Band 7 or 8a Physiotherapists and other physiotherapy professional leads and have a chance to develop your skills whilst working innovatively with patients, their carers and a wide range of other agencies.
We are committed to personal and professional development through regular supervision, and in service training to enhance your CPD. We have excellent access to training opportunities including profession/skill specific, interdisciplinary, and leadership training.
It is anticipated across a two year period you would complete two rotations at University Hospital Lewisham or in the community to one rotation at Queen Elizabeth Site. As such the high cost area supplement (HCAS) you receive will depend on your rotation site and therefore your salary will vary in accordance with this.

Job responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE
The Specialist Neurology Physiotherapist is an experienced clinician who independently manages a full specialised clinical caseload. They are responsible for supervising designated members of staff within the specialist team.
The post holder rotates through speciality pathways on an 8-monthly basis and works under supervision of an allocated Team Lead for the Clinical Area. Rotations span the University Hospital Lewisham, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham Neurology Community Services.
The rotations associated with this post may change in response to future service demands and the postholder may be required to work at any of the sites within the Trust.
7-day working for Therapies is under development within the Trust and it is anticipated that the postholder will be required to work at weekends on a roster basis during some of the above rotations.
Clinical Governance and clinical support will be provided to rotational staff by the highly specialist (Band 7) Physiotherapy Team Lead. In conjunction with the Team Lead, the post holder participates in a rolling programme of education, clinical evaluation, audit and research across the speciality.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy.
* HCPC registration
* Undertaken a range of relevant postgraduate neurology courses
* MCSP
* Member of relevant special interest group
Experience
* Wide ranging rotational physiotherapy experience at Band 5 level including neurology experience
* Experience of participating in audit, service evaluation and evidence based projects.
* Evidence of actively participating in in-service training and MDT groups, and evaluating effectiveness of training
* Experience and ability to work collaboratively within MDT
* Experience in managing limited resources and high workloads
* Previous experience at band 6 level
* Research experience.
* Experience of supervision and appraisal of physiotherapy staff and students with ability to give constructive feedback
Knowledge & Skills
* Knowledge of evidenced based practice pertaining to specialist areas of physiotherapy
* Knowledge of key national guidelines and standards pertaining to specialist areas of physiotherapy
* Understanding of clinical governance and its implication for physiotherapy
* Awareness and understanding of NHS structure, current issues and developments
* Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
* The ability to discuss clinical reasoning in the management of complex cases
* The ability to identify and act upon adverse clinical signs
* Able to communicate complex information to patients, carers other health professionals and team.
* Excellent ability to work effectively in a team environment
* IT skills - Ability to create and/or format data and/or complex spreadsheets using computerised systems
* Demonstrates excellent leadership ability and motivational skills
