This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced allied health professional to clinically lead our paediatric persistent pain service. This rare opportunity is to support the establishment and development of a new, evidence and value-based model of care to meet the needs of children and young people with persistent pain and their families across Wales.
The successful applicant will work closely with the lead clinical psychologist and consultant to lead a dynamic multi-professional team that will include physiotherapists, occupational therapies and clinical nurse specialists, providing education and support across Wales. The service will operates across a variety of locations including community locations, hospital sites and virtually.
Working with the Strategic Lead and psychologist the post holder will be responsible for delivering a value-based model of care for children and young people with persistent pain and their families. The clinical model is based on the Cardiff and Vale Rehabilitation Model and this role involves leadership of the tertairy rheumatology service including service design, governance and developing clinical pathways. This post will be operational lead for some of our programmes, Innovations and co-production with partners, to enhance the offer and Collaborate with peers across Wales.

Main duties of the job
The clinical lead will provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team developing and delivering a persistent pain service that supports children and young people across Wales. This includes individual work, group work, consultation to others and supervision of colleagues. The role will also provide AHP leadership across the rheumatology services, working in collaboration with professional leads to align this service with the CAVUHB Rehabilitation Model.
Partnership working is essential for this role through co-production, fostering multidisciplinary and multi-agency relationships and drawing upon community of practice.
The post holder will line manage and develop team members in close collaboration with professional service leads. The role involves training and education and supporting colleagues beyond the persistent pain service in developing the way we deliver our services. The role will actively support practice-based education.
There is a significant service development aspect to this role with opportunities for research and audit. Demonstrating value and benefits realisation is crucial.
