Position: Health & Safety Technician
Salary: £45,944 - £49,654, plus potential annual bonus of up to 10% of your annual salary.

Please note - this role will require continued flexibility to support managers over a 24-hour operation and involve periods of travel, overnight stays, on a workload demand basis. A full UK driving licence is essential.

About the Role:
Working with the Safety Director, Safety team and operational and non-operational senior stakeholders to develop, launch and implement safety standards and programmes to reduce safety risks and impacts nationally.
You will:
* Provide safety coaching, training, upskilling, advice and support to the Royal Mail Group Operational and non-operational management teams functions driving up compliance to the Safety Health and Environment Management System (SHEMS).
* Represent the function at local forums providing safety subject matter expertise to operations.
* Provide support and leadership to the deployment of all incident reduction, behavioural coaching and property related programmes or initiatives in line with the content of the safety Strategy.
* Support the deployment of national programmes, providing training where specified, and ensure that operational and non-operational managers have established and are progressing appropriate plans to deliver the deployment.
* Undertake safety risk assessments as prescribed by the Group Safety Management System Standards or as directed by the relevant Strategic Safety Business Partner and Senior Safety Advisor.
* Conduct incident investigations as directed by the Strategic Safety Business Partner or Senior Safety Advisor.
* Support the Strategic Safety Business Partner to report on all aspects of the safety performance, including audit compliance and recommended remedial actions across the business.
* Undertake integrated audits in line with the audit plan, or as directed by the Strategic Safety Business Partner or Senior Safety Advisor, review outputs audits and share with operational and non-operational leaders.
The role is big, with potentially demanding timescales; however, the rewards will be vast. You’ll have ownership of your audit plans, manage your own diary, priorities and schedule your own site audits. About You:
From a safety background, you need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your CV:
* Holder of NEBOSH certificate or equivalent - essential
* IOSH certified level membership - desirable
* Experience in auditing, risk assessments & accident investigations
* Strong communicator, able to influence at front line level
* Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise activities
* IT literate and able to write reports and undertake detailed investigations
* Safety / integrated auditing
* Multi-site experience
* Experience working with trade unions would be advantageous
