We have an exciting opportunity for a hard-working and highly motivated Specialist Pharmacist, Patient Services to join the King’s College Hospital Pharmacy Team based at the Princess Royal University Hospital. If you are a good communicator with a passion for pharmacy, then this could be the job for you. The post holder will provide professional leadership to ensure the safe and effective running of the dispensary with operational support from the Dispensary Manager. They will also act as the clinical lead for the dispensary and provide support to, and supervision for, junior pharmacists. In addition, they will be responsible for providing training and supervision in the dispensary for trainee pharmacists.
The Pharmacy department puts a strong emphasis on a learning environment and ensures that staff have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge to their full potential and actively encourages the continuous professional development of every staff member.
Main duties of the job
1. To be the responsible clinical pharmacist lead in the management and development of Patient Services at PRUH and South Sites.
2. To be responsible for the training and development of junior pharmacists in Patient Services.
3. Being a member of Pharmacy Risk and Governance and PSIRF panels representing patient services and leading the development of learning responses/action plans related to Patient Services.
4. Being a member of the Local Faculty Group representing Patient Services and discussing the training and mentoring of junior pharmacists.
5. To plan and implement new clinical standards to meet service demands as needed.
6. To promote best clinical practice across all Trust sites.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
PATIENT/CLIENT CARE
* To be responsible for delivering a customer-focused service to patients.
* Support the dispensary managers within the different dispensaries to ensure smooth day-to-day running and delivery of departmental KPIs with a focus on clinical issues impacting workload.
* To promote high quality clinical pharmaceutical care for all patients.
* To act as lead specialist clinical pharmacist in Patient Services at the PRUH and South Sites.
* To participate in and contribute to the clinical pharmacy service as appropriate.
* To provide highly specialised advice on medicine management issues within specialist area.
* To manage and co-ordinate response to all complaints in Pharmacy as needed.
* To manage and co-ordinate dispensary incident reviews and investigations making changes to practice as needed.
Person specification
Education & Qualifications
* Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC (competency assessed and examined professional registration)
* Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice
* Member of the RPS faculty
Knowledge & Experience
* Previous relevant clinical experience in a variety of clinical specialities.
* Expert clinical knowledge and Skills Relevant to Area of Practice.
* Experience of Practice Research or Audit.
* Knowledge of Regulations and Legislation Relevant to Pharmacy Practice.
* Experience of Supervising Others.
