We are currently seeking an experienced Orthotist who is looking for anopportunity to develop their career and be a part of our large and dynamic teamin Roehampton. This role is a one year fixed term post to provide maternitycover, with the potential of extending the contract.
The role will involve working with a complex clinical case load andtherefore clinical expertise in at least one area of orthotics is essential,but there will also be opportunities to develop into different specialities.The role holder will be instrumental in working with the orthotic team,consisting of clinicians, technicians, and wider NHS MDT to advance and improvethe delivery of the service.
The role holder will be an integral member of the senior clinical teamand will provide mentoring support to less experienced orthotists, graduates,and students.
There are a wide variety of MDTs and extended practice clinics including,but not limited to:
1. In and out-patient clinics for neurologicalconditions
2. Paediatrics
3. Scoliosis bracing
4. Diabetic foot
5. Foot and ankle
6. Theatre casts and removal
7. Gait lab and surgical planning
Main duties of the job
Some of the key responsibilities the role holder will haveresponsibility for:
8. Ensure the delivery of high-quality care for allpatients and the smooth running of the service.
9. Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs)across Queen Marys and St Georges Hospitals.
10. To have an area of specialist orthotic practise andinterest.
11. Share yourknowledge and experience with junior colleagues and offer mentorship tograduates.
12. Helpcoordinate and contribute to in-service training sessions.
The role holder will be a specialised Orthotist that can supportdevelopment and service improvements for the betterment of patients in QueenMarys and St Georges Hospitals.
The successful candidate will join anenthusiastic and busy team, and be supported with local, regional, and nationaltraining to develop their clinical skills to support the service. We aim todeliver a first class service for users whilst applying the most advanced andexciting clinical and technical solutions available to patients.

The Orthotic Department is based in theDouglas Bader Rehabilitation Centre within Queen Marys Hospital, where we provideinpatient, outpatient and community orthotic care for a wide variety ofpatients. There is a complex mix of MDTs and extended practice clinics whichprovides a great opportunity to be exposed to interesting and varied caseloads.
St Georges University NHS Foundationtrust provide specialist services for South-West London including Spina Bifida,Ponseti and spasticity, all of which the orthotic team are an important partof.
Onsite at Queen Marys hospital we work closelywith the gait lab team, spasticity specialist physiotherapists, orthopaedicsurgeons and consultant neurologists for surgical planning pathways for upperand lower limbs.
There is a large on-site workshop withskilled staff providing a collaborative working approach to device design andmanufacture.
