Main duties of the job Candidates applying for these positions will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, using them to engage, persuade or negotiate with clients with complex, at times challenging needs to ensure they are provided with appropriate care and support. Working as a HCSW on our mental health inpatient wards you will be involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. You will be working alongside registered nurses to provide; nursing care, helping your patients(both male and female) with daily living tasks, to sometimes include personal care and other activities. Daily tasks may include. Support the nursing and wider team to provide clinical tasks. To be actively involved in the induction and training of Band 2 HCSW's on the ward. To provide clinical supervision to junior members of staff. Therapeutic observations Physical health monitoring Providing emotional support to patients One to one observation for patients who present a high risk due to a clinical condition. Ensuring that the ward environment is clean and safe preventing infection and falls. Record changes to a patient's condition and escalate to the registered nursing team.
