About the Team
We are strengthening our Manufacturing Engineering team in the area of Electronics and ADAS at our location in Peterlee.
The team is responsible for the selection, design, implementation and support of assembly processes covering standard machines and bespoke equipment built in the UK and internationally. You will be part of a high performing cross functional team working with worldwide support groups and a new technology focus which is always improving. As part of the team, you will handle all post-SMT and testing processes for a variety of products, including ECUs, RAS, ADAS, Radar, EPB, EBB, and various steering systems. The responsibilities extend to supporting NPI and NEI initiatives, as well as assisting maintenance, production, and quality functions. Additionally, the team drives cost-saving and improvement projects aimed at reducing scrap, cycle times, and enhancing OEE.
What you can look forward to as Controls Engineer
1. Managing and supporting all PLC/ Controls related tasks and maintaining related databases and systems
2. Identifying and performing feasibility studies related to introducing automation
3. Leading/ supporting improvement projects related to reducing scrap, improving cycle time and OEE
4. Supporting all areas of production and other groups (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering AME, Quality, NPI engineering) from a manufacturing engineer perspective, leading NPI and NEI Projects
5. Working within a continuous improvement culture driving towards ZERO defects by ensuring the best working practices and technologies are implemented
Your Profil as Controls Engineer
6. Engineering qualification required – Degree preferred but Minimum HNC with additional certifications related to job role
7. Experienced (minimum 5 years at qualified engineering level) and expected to work under pressure in a high paced/high volume environment, prioritising projects based on business needs. Will be expected to lead projects and work as part of a team within engineering and across the business
8. Electrical bias with extensive knowledge of PLC (Allen Bradley/Siemens/Omron), controls systems and Automation
9. Must be willing and able to communicate effectively at all levels, within and out with the company. A diverse individual that can methodically solve high level issues and can support other functions throughout the business
10. Proficient in English language with good communication skills to support and the willingness to travel globally (up to 3 times annually) to support equipment qualifications
