Job Description
Turner & Townsend is one of the leading consultancy providers to the Infrastructure sector and has a thriving Estimating team making the difference for a large number of clients both in the UK and Overseas. As a pillar of our ambitious growth strategy, the Commercial Intelligence and Benchmarking capability exists to capture, manage and utilise our data for both our internal customers and to provide competitive advantage both internally and for our clients.
Reporting to the Director of Commercial Intelligence and Benchmarking, we are looking for a talented, and self-starting individual to join the Cost Intelligence and Benchmarking team in order to support in the successful development and delivery of the Infrastructure Commercial Intelligence and Benchmarking Strategy in line with the Turner & Townsend Corporate Vision to 2025 and beyond.
We are looking for a candidate that has:
1. A sound understanding of data; how it may be used and its importance as a decision-making tool internally and for clients
2. A working understanding of both Project Commercial Management and Project Controls
3. Autonomous problem-solving ability and an understanding of contemporary integrated information systems work
4. The ability to articulate, in easily understandable language, the narrative behind the data to internal customers and clients
Ideally the candidate will have a part mathematical, part data / computer scientist, part engineering mindset as well as a proven experience working on major projects.
Working primarily within the Infrastructure Estimating team and with the UK Commercial community, the successful candidate will help oversee all aspects of Commercial Intelligence and Benchmarking development. Typically, this will likely include (but not be limited to) the following:
5. Working with our Digital team to transform the tools that underpin our Cost Intelligence and Benchmarking services
6. Grow our cost intelligence capability through building and maintaining a strong Commercial Intelligence & Benchmarking network and community of practice
7. Supporting the achievement of departmental objectives
8. Extracting usable data from data sources as well as processing, cleansing, and validating its integrity
9. Supporting the achievement of Cost Intelligence & Benchmarking and Estimating Team objectives
10. Staying abreast of developments within the knowledge, data and information management discipline
11. Acting as an ambassador for the Commercial Intelligence & Benchmarking capability for both internal customers and external clients
12. Acting as a professional role model for less experienced staff
13. Enhancing data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing our data toolset
This is a national, UK-based role.
Qualifications
14. Experienced in Estimating or Quantity Surveying on infrastructure or construction projects
15. Knowledge of data and data analysis
16. Cost benchmarking development experience
17. Previous experience of working with estimating software packages
18. Desirable: Membership of ACostE / APM / ICEAA
