This is a new post for a consultant psychiatrist to provide medical input into the East Adult community Treatment located in Cumbria. Post holders will work along with multidisciplinary teams covering the adult population in North-Cumbria. The post holder will provide senior clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex mental health problems and what are termed as at-risk mental states.

Main duties of the job
This is a 10 PA substantive Consultant post providing senior clinical and leadership input in the East and West Adult Community Treatment Team. The post-holder is expected to:
1. Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis and formulation of patients referred to the CTT.
2. Be committed to delivering excellence in clinical care.
3. Work effectively with the multidisciplinary community team and in-patient teams.
4. Promote the safety and well-being of the patients we serve.
5. Respect the rights and the dignity of patients.
6. Consider the individual and cultural needs of patients.
7. Work with families and carers in the best interest of the patient (in line with the Trust Carers' Charter).

Job responsibilities
As a Consultant Psychiatrist working in the Adult Community Treatment Team in Cumbria, you will have responsibility for the provision of safe and effective care and treatment which is evidence based. You will share the vision of integrated and multi-disciplinary working and actively engage in the development of the service through research and support.
The post holder would be expected to be included on the specialist register (or eligible within 6 months) and Approved Clinician Status or able to achieve this within 3 months of appointment).
Person Specification
Qualifications/Eligibility
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* Registration with GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice
* Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion or included within six months of CCT/CESR
* Approved under Section12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 OR able to achieve within three month of appointment
* Approved Clinician Status OR able to achieve within three month of appointment
* Possess a CCT/CESR in Psychiatry
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
* Has undergone training in educational supervision
* Has undergone training in appraisal
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge in the relevant field of Psychiatry
* Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
* An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working
* Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings
* Experience of Clinical Audit
* Experience in multi-agency work especially with service user, carer and voluntary agencies
* Experience in service management or development
Skills
* High level of clinical skills
* Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in the adult population
* Established ability as a clinical teacher
* Established record of clinical leadership
* Training in specific and relevant treatment skills e.g. a brief form of psychological therapy
