This new post will play a crucial role within the Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Nottingham (HMDN) team in providing regional diagnostic Haematopathology services to 3.5 million patients in the East Midlands.

Main duties of the job
The appointee, in collaboration with the other Consultants will be expected to fulfil the duties detailed in the Job description which can be found in our job pack, attached in the supporting documents.
You are expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching (including supervision, training, assessment and appraisal of specialist registrars and biomedical scientists), clinical audit, research and development. You will work within the multidisciplinary team of Haematopathology and may also be required to undertake management duties. Participation in the coronial autopsy service is welcome but optional.
Cellular pathology at NUH is using digital pathology for primary diagnostic reporting and the appointee will be fully supported to transition to Whole Slide Image reporting. This allows integration with the rest of the team who work 100% using our digital platform (HALO AP). Flexible work from home options for reporting are also available.
About us

The Russell Centre for Haematology is one of the largest centres for the treatment of haematological malignancies in the UK and offers bone transplant and CAR-T cell therapy. They have a strong reputation for clinical trials and clinical research and you will get an opportunity to work with our dynamic clinical team.
The Haematopathology service is a fully integrated service with aspirate reporting, flow cytometry analysis and histology review of bone marrow trephines, lymph nodes and other extranodal tissues being undertaken locally. There are some aspects of genomic investigations undertaken locally within our Genomics department with wider support being provided by Cambridge through the East GLH. The department is a teaching and training facility and the appointee will be expected to deliver undergraduate teaching (tutorials) and to contribute to the local ST teaching programme, as well as developing our own BMS staff. We are currently in the process of developing a fellowship in Haematopathology to support post CCT candidates with special interest in the field, who have trained either in Haematology or Histopathology.
Job responsibilities
To provide a comprehensive Histopathology diagnostic service, including full clinical liaison, to:
* Clinicians at NUH.
* Other users of the Haematopathology service in the wider region.
* Other hospitals that may refer for specialist services with NUH.
To take a lead role in the development of specialist diagnostic techniques to meet the increasing demands of clinical users and keep up with newer technologies and investigative repertoire.
To be involved in the training of Specialty Trainees, scientific and BMS staff. Provision of reciprocal cover for periods of leave.
To contribute, as required, to the teaching of pathology to undergraduates and postgraduates within the Medical School of University of Nottingham. To take part in Medical Audit and Quality Control.
To pursue a programme of Continuous Professional and Medical Education/ Development (CME/CPD) with the Royal College of Pathologists and to participate in annual Individual Performance Reviews (IPR) and Consultant appraisals.
To contribute to the requirements of Clinical Governance. To share in the administrative duties associated with the running of a clinical laboratory.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
* FRCPath
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
Experience and Interest
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Histopathology/Haematopathology.
* Experience using Digital Pathology Platforms for Primary Diagnostic Reporting.
