About The Role

LiveWest's Young People Service at Plymouth Foyer are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Youth Development Worker to join our team to support our young people aged 16-25. If you have the drive to support young people in achieving their goals and developing essential life skills, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities:
* Build Trusting Relationships: Establish open, collaborative, and trusting relationships with young people, colleagues, and partner agencies to create a supportive environment.
* Manage Caseloads: Be accountable for a caseload of young people, ensuring each has a relevant and up-to-date action plan and risk assessment.
* Coaching and Advocacy: Coach young people using a range of tools and options, nurturing their talents and skills to meet individual goals through advocacy, 1-2-1 support, and group work settings.
* Develop Inhouse Programs: Work with colleagues to implement and develop inhouse programs using informal and formal education to encourage engagement and development of learning, employability, and life skills.
* Safeguarding: Ensure the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk by maintaining accurate records and promoting a culture of openness and trust.

This role is being offered on a full time, fixed term basis until March 2026. You will be working 37 hours per week at Plymouth Foyer. Bandwidth hours will be 8am to 9pm, to include weekends on a rolling rota.

About The Candidate
To be successful in your application for the role of Youth Development Worker, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills and experience:
* An ability to engage with a range of young people.
* A tenacity in seeking the best outcomes for young people.
* A good understanding of young people’s needs, safeguarding and emotional and mental health issues.
* An understanding of support needs and support planning.
* An understanding of risk assessing and risk management.
Ideally you will be:
* Innovative and creative in your ways of working.
* Resilient and flexible in dealing with others.
* Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Confident in lone working and be a good team player.
This role is really suited to someone who likes to manage their own diary and caseload, and enjoys interacting with lots of people on a daily basis.
