To fit and assemble machine unit assemblies such as Spindles, Clamps, Automation, Lubrication, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and other mechanical sub-assemblies. This includes fitting and assembling units within the general assembly of the friction welding machine using assembly drawings and schematics. You will liaise with the build supervisor to ensure that each machine unit/build is on time with the machine build schedule, adheres to assembly and mechanical specifications, and stays within budget for estimated hours for each sub-assembly. You will be part of the company's initiative for upfront planning, participating in meetings prior to the project build phase on the release of each unit from the design phase. Additionally, you will review and voice concerns on each design and identify all materials required to support the mechanical build sequence.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
* Fitting and assembly of various unit assemblies using assembly drawings.
* Reading hydraulic, lubrication, and pneumatic schematics.
* Installation of hydraulic, lubrication, and pneumatic systems.
* Communicating any problems with parts to the build and engineering department.
* Onsite installation, upgrades, and breakdowns of machinery at customer premises in the UK and worldwide.
* Communicating with customers in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
* Inspecting parts from a drawing using various inspection equipment.
* Operating machine shop equipment such as millers, lathes, and surface grinders.
* Continuously reviewing and improving engineering processes.
* Contributing to the company's upfront planning initiative.
* Helping develop strategies and processes to ensure on-time delivery of equipment, cost reduction opportunities, and performance improvements.

* Occasionally supporting the company's subcontract department with machine breakdowns and operations.
* Performing other assignments as requested by the supervisor or manager.
