An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and patient Teaching Assistant (TA) with SEN/SEMH experience to join a welcoming primary school in Southampton. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting children with special educational needs, ensuring they receive tailored guidance in a small group or 1:1 setting to enhance their learning experience.
Responsibilities of TA (SEN):
* Provide targeted support to students with SEN/SEMH in a mainstream primary setting.
* Assist teachers in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
* Deliver individualised support, fostering confidence and academic progress.
* Work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to implement educational plans.
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
* Support students with their social and communication skills.
The successful candidate will:
* Previous SEN/SEMH experience in a school setting is essential.
* Ability to work patiently with young children, offering nurturing support.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A proactive and adaptable approach to classroom support.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
