Senior Technician Job Description
Job Summary:
To provide effective diagnostics and repair solutions to main dealer standards, providing support and guidance to fitters and trainees. Ensuring that the workshop facilities, equipment and tools are kept clean, tidy and maintained. To oversee that all work and repairs are undertaken safely and in accordance with manufacturers' recommended standards reflecting the Collard Group Ltd image of an efficient and modern vehicle repair centre.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner by you and your workshop team.
* Diagnose faults and have cost-effective repair solutions.
* Ensure repairs are carried out in a timely and cost-effective way.
* Ensure all workshop diagnostic equipment is kept up to date.
* Assist with roadside or on-site repairs when required.
* Work with the workshop supervisor to maximize vehicle availability.
* Deputise for the workshop supervisor in his absence.
* Ensure that the workshop team follows the company’s process for the completion of all workshop documentation, including purchase order systems and vehicle service inspection sheets.
* Ensure that service sheets are completed as per VOSA requirements.
* Ensure that all vehicle defects are repaired and then reported to the relevant departments.
* Must be able to inspect an HGV to MOT pass standards.
* Assist with general repairs where necessary.
* Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate.
* Support the development of any young trainees and apprentices.
Qualifications:
* Must be able to inspect a vehicle to MOT standards.
* Hold a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle or plant engineering.
* Full clean UK driving licence.
Experience/Skills/Competencies:
* Previous experience in a similar role.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks.
* At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
* To adapt and take on new skills and approaches and participate in training and development activities.
* To develop or work in developing new or enhancing existing processes.
* Attention to detail.
* Effective communication and teamwork skills at all levels with the ability to work under pressure.
* To effectively communicate at all levels both written and verbally and be an active team member.
Work Schedule:
45 Hours per week plus 7.00am - 12.00pm on a Saturday.
