An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to work with the Adult Learning Disability services in Cornwall. The successful applicant will want to work with adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs in a community setting, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
This post is part time, working 22.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
We work with people with intellectual disabilities in their own homes, their occupational settings or in other health or social care facilities. Our clinical work is framed by the Model of Human Occupation and draws on a variety of frames of reference/ approaches such as Sensory Integration Theory. Education/Qualification and Relevant Experience
Essential
* Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registration
* Experience of working within a relevant clinical setting
Desirable
* Experience of working with people with learning disabilities
Skills and Aptitude
Essential
* Skills in clinical assessment, intervention and evaluation
* IT Skills
* Willingness to work with people who have behaviours that challenge
* Able to communicate sensitively and effectively with service users and carers
* Able to manage a caseload, with supervision and support, balancing conflicting demands and prioritising as required
* Able to demonstrate identification of own development needs
Knowledge and abilities
Desirable
* Knowledge and experience of using MOHO and associated assessments
* Some knowledge of current legislation, national policies and guidance relevant to people with a learning disability
