Key to success in the role will be your supplier management skills – researching and planning, communicating, and negotiating; to ensure the supply base meets the business needs - balancing driving costs down, whilst ensuring continuity of supply and mitigation of risks. Role Purpose:
· Responsible for the day-to-day operation and effectiveness of the Purchasing Department
· Ensuring the availability of stock in line with current and future customer demand and/or market trends. Being hands-on, working with the team, placing and expediting orders as and when needed
· Management of the commercial impact of our sourcing operations (costs, rebates, payment terms, cashflow)
Key Responsibilities:
· Team Management - responsible for the day to day running of the team including task prioritisation, escalation point for issues, coaching, performance management and communication.
· Supplier Management – build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure that Jet Press maintains its position and reputation as a preferred distributor in the markets we operate. This role will involve visiting UK based suppliers and some international travel (typically 3-4 trips per year) and overnight stays.
· Range Development - in liaison with the Sales Team, support the work to identify, validate and integrate new products and/or suppliers to Jet Press, whilst ensuring our internal standards/requirements are met. Where items are unavailable/obsolete, agree with the relevant department suitable alternatives and source accordingly.
· Demand Planning – develop and implement processes which deliver the right stockholding in line with customer demand schedules and/or forecasts, with regular engagement with Sales team.
· Product Knowledge – ensure industry knowledge remains current within the Purchasing team by arranging regular product training, industry events, supplier/customer meeting attendance, and cross functional learning sessions.
· Financial Performance – lead the workstreams for cost reductions, or value additions, across all suppliers, including negotiation on price, MOQ, MOV, specification, shipping costs, rebate generation, and payment terms.
· Continual Improvement – identify, validate, and implement process improvements within Purchasing which will remove/reduce risk and inefficiencies and promote best practice activities.
· Quality - Manage and resolve issues identified i.e. through Purchasing non-conformances and customer complaints, identifying root cause with effective corrective actions (CAPA).
· Social & Ethical Responsibility – support our on-going Corporate Social Responsibility programme through the management of our supplier portfolio and selection of global transportation options.
· Administration - ensuring that the Purchasing team maintains accurate records on the management system, enabling the generation of reports and data analysis. Working closely with colleagues in the Warehouse and Accounts to resolve issues i.e. with stock levels and invoicing.
Experience
Essential:
· Have extensive experience of negotiating with a broad portfolio of suppliers
· Hands-on experience of global sourcing practices and activities, including Far East factories
· Good understanding of demand planning principles and approaches
· Experience of managing a team
Preferred:
· Rollout of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
· (advantageous) Fluent in a second language

Hours of work: 8.30am–5.00pm Monday-Thursday & 8.30am–3.15pm Friday
