We are looking for an enthusiastic planning policy officer to help deliver the Fylde Local Plan and draft our next development plan. Reporting to the Principal Planning Policy Officer, the post holder will play an important role in the preparation and monitoring of the Council’s next local plan, supplementary guidance, neighbourhood plans and similar work. The council is dedicated to delivering a high-quality customer focussed planning policy service and this role will allow the successful candidate to make an important contribution to developing the local economy and shaping the built, rural and coastal environment of the borough.
With a good knowledge of the forward planning system, you should preferably have experience of working in planning policy. However, if you are only beginning your planning career, we will support you as you develop your knowledge and skills with the objective of becoming a chartered town planner. You should be well organised, focussed, forward thinking, analytical, a team player, and should have a flexible approach to work.
With 12 miles of scenic Lancashire coastline, between the rivers Ribble and Wyre, Fylde Borough offers an attractive mix of open countryside, small rural villages and the traditional seaside towns that offer a wide range of opportunities and challenges that will help develop your planning skills.
In addition, we can offer:
1. An opportunity to work for a forward-thinking dynamic council
2. Generous annual leave and a great pension
3. Excellent work-life balance with flexible working arrangements
4. Healthy workplace initiatives including discounted gym membership
5. A desirable and high-quality work environment
