Software Engineer - Controls System
Job Location: Chesterfield
Contract Duration: 6 months (Inside IR35)
Belcan Workforce Solutions is currently looking for a Controls System Software Engineer to work for one of our clients based in Chesterfield, UK.
A project Software Engineer is required to be a committed and enthusiastic member of the team, taking responsibility for successfully delivering project solutions to the agreed scope in accordance with company procedures whilst meeting budgetary and time-scale targets. The Software Engineer shall adopt a right first-time philosophy and raise any risks or issues to the Senior Engineer or Manager.
You will be responsible for the delivery of agreed modules within a project (PLC, SCADA, Testing, Networking, Documentation, Hardware design, etc.). You will work as directed by the Senior/Lead Engineer and Project Manager and take control in meeting the technical and quality requirements of projects. You will ensure project adherence to company quality processes and procedures and identify project opportunities and variations, alongside supporting the Project Manager in identifying and managing risks and issues.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
1. Experience of system specification through design, development, and testing
2. Hands-on experience of Siemens S7 PLC's and WinCC SCADA systems
3. A good appreciation of Control panels, electrical installation, and Instrumentation solutions
4. A Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Systems or relevant discipline
5. Incorporated Engineer or working towards professional registration
Desirable:
1. Develop project modules (PLC code modules, SCADA scripts, Mimics, comms drivers, etc.)
2. Report on progress of all assigned activities to Senior/Lead Engineer or Project Manager
3. Identify any deviations from agreed functionality or scope and notify Senior/Lead Engineer or Project Manager
4. Peer review documents created by the project team or other teams as required
5. Undertake site surveys as required
6. Support outline design, upfront design studies, and requirement definition for clients
7. Develop FDS & DDS, develop test specification & design testing methodology
8. Develop site work documentation (Risk assessment, method statement, site test documentation)
9. Develop O & M documentation
10. Undertake full integrated system testing, CFAT, SAT, and installation
11. Undertake observations, variation, and reworks
12. Undertake packing and shipping of the system
13. Undertake site installation
14. Undertake site retesting
15. Provide warranty support as necessary
Important: The successful candidate will be required to obtain SC clearance on commencement of the contract.
