About the Position We are excited to have Senior Ecologist opportunities in a fast-growing Environmental Planning (EP) team based in the United Kingdom. Whilst you will initially be part of a relatively small team, this position comes with the opportunity to help shape the future, and the prospect of being part of a far bigger picture as a member of both the global Antea community and the global Inogen Alliance. Role responsibilities: Managing the ecological aspects of small projects from inception through to completion, including the design and management of ecological surveys and providing pragmatic advice to clients and their planning teams. Scoping and costing the ecological requirements within both standalone and multidisciplinary tenders for small projects. Undertaking desk searches and extended phase 1 habitat surveys/UK Habitat Classification surveys to accurately describe and map habitats and assess their potential to support notable/protected species. Undertaking surveys for all common legally protected species and advise on and complete mitigation. Undertaking the role of Ecological Clerk of Works during the construction phase of works for projects. Data analysis and interpretation for inclusion within ecological reports. Mentor and support junior colleagues. Build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within the business, with clients and their teams, subcontractors and other third parties (regulators, statutory consultees, etc.). To be successful in this role, individuals must demonstrate: A bachelor’s degree in relevant subject, though relevant experience is equally valued. At least four years’ experience as a professional ecological consultant. Associate Member of CIEEM (or higher) and a willingness to work towards a higher level in time. Sound ecological field skills covering a range of protected species and habitats. A clear understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework as it relates to ecology and nature conservation. A Natural England survey licence (Level 1 or above). Knowledge of and experience of using the Defra Biodiversity Metric and UK Habitat Classification. The ability to write concise, high quality, technical reports in line with CIEEM guidelines. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Full clean driving licence. A willingness to travel and to work away from home with occasional longer or unsociable hours. Additional desirable qualifications Experience of using GIS Knowledge of BREEAM 2018 assessments. BSBI FISC (Level 3 or above). CSCS Card. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Our EHS consulting operation in the United Kingdom is supported by our sister company, Antea Group USA. This position will be a hybrid role, being primarily homebased with periodic travel required to Antea Group offices or client premises in the United Kingdom.
