We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Manager to join our Research Programmes Directorate. As a Research Manager, you will play a key role in driving the strategic development and delivery of both NIHR and non-NIHR research funding programmes, contributing to reducing health inequalities and reconfiguring the health, social care, and public health systems.
Key responsibilities
* Research and articulate potential research investment opportunities
* Revise application forms and guidance documents
* Review applications for funding
* Coordinate and manage the peer review process
* Oversee funding committees
* Provide feedback to successful and unsuccessful applicants
* Undertake due diligence of proposals based on critical assessment of healthcare-related projects
* Negotiate funding agreements for projects recommended for funding
* Manage a portfolio of funded projects
* Regularly communicate and collaborate with individuals both within and outside the organization.

* A degree in biomedical, health, or social sciences, or equivalent experience in the field
* Strong ability to communicate effectively and experience in building relationships with various individuals and teams.
* Track record in successful project and programme management
* Ability to think strategically
* Excellent writing and attention to detail
* Excellent planning and organisational skills
* Analytical and complex problem-solving skills
* Strong communication skills and customer focus
* Committed team player
* Experience in a research management environment
* Preferred: PhD in a medical, scientific, technical, or social field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
* Desirable: Knowledge of the UK's health and care research landscape
