Band 7- Lead Midwife for Induction of Labour and Planned Caesarean Sections

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the maternity team at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as our Lead Midwife for Induction of Labour and Planned Caesarean Sections. The post holder will ensure effective communication throughout the multidisciplinary team and support a positive safety culture. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
This role involves leading coordination of Induction of Labour and Planned Caesarean Sections to maintain patient safety and flow through the service, ensuring safe, efficient and effective service user flow, whilst ensuring optimal bed utilisation through co-ordination of admissions.
Main Duties of the Job
This is a new role and as our lead midwife for Induction of Labour and Planned Caesarean Sections you will:
1. Lead coordination of Induction of Labour and Planned Caesarean Sections to maintain patient safety and flow through the service.
2. Ensure safe, efficient and effective service user flow, whilst ensuring optimal bed utilisation through co-ordination of admissions.
3. Plan, coordinate and facilitate induction of labour workshops for women, birthing people and their families.
4. Plan, coordinate and facilitate planned caesarean section workshops for women, birthing people and their families.
5. Support quality improvement work related to induction of labour and planned caesarean sections.
6. Work clinically supporting women and birthing people who have a planned admission.
The post holder will inspire confidence and innovation amongst our incredible workforce, who together, ensure the women/birthing people and staff are safe, cared for and listened to. They will work collaboratively with the clinical maternity teams, maternity managers, governance and education teams to provide seamless pathways of care and ensure a positive safety and team culture.

Job Responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Clinical:
2. To spend 50% of time clinically facing. This will include supporting the daily planned caesarean section lists and working clinically on the antenatal ward supporting induction of labour.
3. To review referrals and ensure timely appointments for induction of labour and planned caesarean sections as the midwifery lead within the multidisciplinary team and liaise with women and birthing people regarding their admission.
4. To prioritise inductions of labour and planned caesarean sections in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
5. To identify, analyse, and interpret facts and information to ensure the management of a woman and birthing people is in accordance with risk throughout their pregnancy journey.
6. To coordinate induction of labour and planned caesarean section daily and optimise capacity whilst ensuring a safe environment for women and birthing people and their families.
7. To support service users in their patient journey through the service by ensuring clear lines of communication and advise is provided around any potential delays.
Person Specification
Criteria
* Registered Midwife
* First level degree in related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Mentorship or teaching accreditation: ENB 997 or equivalent, SSSA supervisor and assessor.
* Substantial post registration experience in all areas of midwifery practice.
* Significant antenatal and Intrapartum clinical experience
* Experience undertaking audits
* Experience of project or service improvement work
