Junior Buyer Role Summary The main purpose of the role is to ensure achievement of company strategy and goals, financial and otherwise using best practice techniques. You will be required to purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. Key Responsibilities Work with the Procurement Manager to develop and update the procurement strategy Procure raw materials, and indirects in line with the procurement strategy of the business. Undertake a proactive approach to Procurement and drive improvement within the sourcing activities and processes. Engage with stakeholders to understand their requirements and gain input for procurement activities. Work with the NPI team to deliver prices on materials, components and other items in a timely manner in order to deliver customer quotations. Be responsible for and proactively manage the supplier base, undertake regular supplier reviews using performance data compiled from the ERP system and other sources. Prepare any relevant business reports and participate in meetings with internal departments to update them on the latest raw material / market information. Review existing categories of spend, identify and prioritise product groups areas for tender / renegotiation. Negotiate contracts, improve terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to deliver cost savings to the business. Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities Ensure that all Purchase orders and relevant material records are kept up to date. Be a good team player and support other members of the team. Drive a culture of support and development and zero waste through SQDCP process, improving performance to maximise KPI’s using lean tool and techniques. Required Experience Ideally you will have 1-3 yeas of purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting Working towards your CIPS qualifications which we will support you to achieve Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally in meetings / presentations. Some experience of MRP and reporting systems.
