We have an exciting opportunity for Bank Pre-Operative Assessment Nurses to join our Ward team based in Hemel Hempstead. You will join us on a bank basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive hourly rate depending on experience plus benefits.
Main duties of the job
Your responsibilities will include:
* Participate in the delivery of high standards of care to patients and their families.
* Take responsibility for the pre-operative anaesthetic and medical assessment of patients undergoing surgery who will be requiring a Local Anaesthetic, Sedation and General Anaesthetic.
* Ensure that all necessary investigations and results are collated for the patients’ admission.
* Take responsibility for own self-development helping to provide a suitable learning environment and high standards of clinical practice.
* To recognise own limitations and seek advice and support from Line Manager.

About the role
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* Be a Registered Nurse with post registration relevant clinical course and active NMC registration.
* Experience and knowledge of working in Pre-Operative Assessment with advance assessment skills in a POA or equivalent background.
* Participate and assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and patient information.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with patients/relatives/carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
