This is an opportunity to join the Environment Agency in the area of Water Resources Planning working directly with the water industry. The role will work directly with the Water Industry on their statutory requirements to build resilience at both Company and Regional level at a time of climate change and the challenges this brings at local, regional, and national level.
The role will include working individually and supporting virtual teams in the delivery of water resources work, as well as an opportunity to develop your own skills, knowledge, and experience to enhance your career opportunities with the Environment Agency. You will provide administrative support to the wider teams as well as work on pieces of work in support of the wider aims and goals of the Environment Agency. There will be opportunities to broaden your experience by being part of a wide array of different groups working on People, HSW, EDI, where bringing people together will enhance the output and support the wider operation.
This role is predominantly Midlands facing with an element of National Support and Collaboration and therefore the successful candidates will need to be able to attend internal and external meetings within the West & East Midlands to attend face-to-face team and collaborative work meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Preference will be for a West or East Midlands based candidate, but all candidates will be considered; travel for meetings will be required. The role is hybrid working with office and home working required.
The team
The team works with Water Companies on their statutory requirements to supply water to the Public, Agriculture, and Industry within England’s borders alongside internal Environment Agency and External Partners colleagues such as Natural England. Our main customers are Water Companies within England.
The team influences and ensures the right investment and decisions are made by water companies to protect and enhance the immediate and longer-term future needs of water supply, the ecology, and the environment.
Experience/Skills Required
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a desire to join an organisation and team who are at the forefront of Water Resources planning. Ideally, you will have the drive and passion to learn new skills and develop your understanding of water resources planning.
Experience/Skills required:
1. Effective communication skills.
2. Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent (C or 4 or above in GCSE English & Maths).
3. Positive & Enthusiastic attitude.
4. Able to respond positively to change.
5. Able to work as part of a team or independently off your own initiative.
6. A basic working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Word, Outlook & Excel.
7. Good data analysis skills.
8. Experience of achieving against timescales.
9. Experience of working with stakeholders.
Desirable but not essential
1. Basic knowledge of Water resources planning may be advantageous but not essential.
2. Experience of using Office 360, including SharePoint.

The role has a hybrid approach to working with time split between the office, home along with some travel for internal or external meetings and training.
