Milestone Infrastructure is seeking a driven and experienced individual to join our team as a Project Manager responsible for programming and logistics on the Botley Bypass project. This hybrid role is essential for the successful delivery of our £30m new bypass project, starting in January 2025. The role will be split roughly 50/50 across each discipline, responsible for ensuring efficient and effective project execution.
Project Description: The Botley Bypass project is a significant infrastructure initiative located in Botley, Hampshire. The project involves constructing a 1.8km long, 7.3m wide single-carriageway and a 3m wide shared-use foot/cycleway along the southern side. The route starts east of Winchester Street, part of the Uplands Development Infrastructure scheme, and heads east towards the railway, crossing a farm track and the River Hamble via a new 100m bridge. It then turns south, west of Bottings Industrial Estate, before joining the A334 with a new roundabout replacing the existing A334/A3051 junction. The project also includes a comprehensive drainage network with balancing ponds, filter drains, carrier drains, and ditches, retaining existing drainage where feasible.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Programming:
1. Prepare a resourced programme in compliance with NEC4 Clause 31.2.
2. Submit revised programmes at regular intervals as required by NEC4 Clause 32.2, reflecting actual progress and any changes to the remaining work.
3. Incorporate changes resulting from compensation events as per NEC4 Clause 62.2, ensuring the programme reflects the impact on time and resources.
4. Incorporate supply chain programmes into the main programme and report on deviation and reporting against key dates.
5. Present programme phasing and critical path analysis at project meetings.
6. Monitor progress against the accepted programme and highlight key issues.
7. Record and highlight changes to resources against the original programme.
8. Prepare revised programmes to completion as required.
9. Lead 4 weekly lookahead programme meetings to ensure alignment and address any potential issues.
Logistics Management:
1. Manage the movement of people, goods, and equipment throughout the site to ensure organisational effectiveness, efficiency, and safety in both the pre-construction and construction phases of the project.
2. Coordinate and manage logistics for large, complex heavy construction and civil engineering projects.
3. Work as a key project team member, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.
4. Communicate clearly and concisely with all stakeholders.
5. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and well-being policies, procedures, site rules, and minimum standards.
6. Assist the project team in coordinating all contractors, considering the neighbouring/local community.
7. Ensure all works contractors, management, workforce, visitors, and deliveries are inducted before accessing the site.
8. Attend daily "Black Hat" briefings for the coordination of subcontractors.
9. Create a schedule of logistics meetings and ensure logistics are represented at site meetings.
10. Ensure components and equipment are delivered to the site in line with the construction programme, considering any changes or delays.
11. Manage plant and equipment deliveries notified by the works contractors/client team.
12. Assist with the production and implementation of logistical phasing plans for the project, including site controls.
13. Provide logistical reporting, including key logistical stats, reports, and recommendations to improve project logistical interfaces for effective and efficient site operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Proven experience in project programming and logistics within the civil engineering or construction industry.
2. Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
3. Experience with ASTA PowerProject or Primavera P6.
4. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
6. Proficiency in project management software and tools.
