The ideal candidate will be conscientious and willing to be flexible to meet the requirements of the family. They will need to be confident and have knowledge of working with children with special educational needs.
A committed and friendly worker is needed to work with a non-verbal 14-year-old boy with autism and severe learning disabilities with a small risk of absconding. He is a happy and easy-going young boy who enjoys a wide variety of activities such as arcades, listening to music, and other similar activities. He is friendly and enjoys the company of others, both adults and peers.
About the role
You will encourage the recipient to engage in activities; settle and support the individual; keep them safe in the community; attend/transport the individual to social activities; encourage social interaction and inclusion; and provide emotional support.
Hours are 8 hours during term time and 12 hours during the holidays, to be discussed with the parent.

The suitable candidate must:

2. Be patient, caring, and understanding.
3. Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
4. Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
5. Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfill their potential and aspirations.
While caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker; the right attitude and a person-centered approach are more important.

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required; applicants must be able to transport themselves.
