The Role
AspenTech is looking for skilled Technical Support Engineers to join our team in two distinct areas: Engineering Solutions and Subsurface Science & Engineering Solutions (SSE). Candidates should apply based on their area of expertise, either in engineering process simulation or geoscience subsurface modeling. This role offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge technology, providing world-class customer support, training, and product expertise.
Your Impact
For Engineering Solutions:
* Provide technical support for Aspen Engineering solutions (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ACCE, EDR, or other related tools), troubleshooting complex technical and simulation issues.
* Deliver customer training and maintain up-to-date training materials for engineering products.
* Collaborate with customers to optimize workflows and recommend improvements to achieve better outcomes using our solutions.
* Engage with R&D teams to suggest product improvements based on customer feedback and your own insights.
* Conduct pre-release testing of software, contribute to product enhancement, and author white papers for the knowledge base.
* Travel to customer sites as required, with travel typically being less than 30%.
For Subsurface Science & Engineering Solutions:
* Provide technical support for Aspen SSE products (SKUA, RMS) with a focus on reservoir modeling and geoscience workflows.
* Deliver high-quality training on subsurface modeling tools, assisting customers in optimizing their use of the software for geological applications.
* Assist in pre-sales consultations by identifying prospects’ business challenges and positioning AspenTech products as solutions.
* Troubleshoot complex geoscience-related technical issues and work with internal teams to drive timely solutions.
* Participate in industry events, contribute to departmental projects, and support the development of training materials.
* Travel to customer sites as required, generally less than 25%.
What You'll Need
For Engineering Solutions:
* Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or similar field, or equivalent work experience. A Master's degree is a plus.
* Experience with AspenTech Engineering tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, EDR, ACCE) or related software.
* Experience with process simulation models and troubleshooting.
* Knowledge of Hybrid modeling techniques and piping/layout development (OptiPlant-related technologies is a plus).
* Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
For Subsurface Science & Engineering Solutions:
* Bachelor's degree in Geoscience or Petroleum Engineering, or equivalent years of relevant experience. A Master's degree is a plus.
* Experience in geological modeling software such as SKUA, RMS, or Petrel.
* Knowledge of subsurface workflows, including reservoir modeling and New Energy workflows like CCS and Geothermal.
* Familiarity with Python scripting and software customizations is highly desired.
* Strong customer-first mindset, with excellent problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Fluent in English, with proficiency in an additional language a plus.
Competencies for Both Profiles:
* Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing environments.
* Willingness to travel as needed, with international travel possible. (Actual travel percentages can vary based on role and business needs. Flexibility may be discussed through the interview process.)
