Software Engineer

Our Customer Data Platforms is a collection of data platform teams that facilitate fundamental customer interactions and journeys, enabling Aviva to deliver on its customer-centric strategy and make appropriate and fair customer decisions.
A bit about the job:
This role resides in the Customer Data team, at the core of Aviva’s digital strategy, providing a single source of customer data across our Customer and Marketing, GI, and IWR propositions. We’re constantly striving to explore innovative ways to engage with new and existing customers on a portfolio of products that reach out to 17 million customers.
This successful candidate will work with projects and business teams, alongside our platform designers and scrum teams to ensure the smooth delivery of desired outcomes.
We are modernizing our complex data estate and play an important part in all Aviva teams achieving strategic targets while supporting business self-service where possible. We welcome those with specific suitable skills or a healthy appetite to learn and develop these skills with us.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
1. Experience in Java Development, Springboot with some knowledge of Reltio, Redshift, and Postgres, with the ability to adhere to SOLID design principles, plus experience of modern software engineering practices including Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery.
2. The ideal candidates will be self-starters who can operate independently and within a team and have some experience in IT roles.
3. Ensure the platform is performant, robust, cost-effective, easy to change, and ensures our customer data is always secure.
4. Able to remain calm, articulate risks and controls to a wide audience, and demonstrate clear and logical thinking when dealing with high-pressure, high-impact situations, e.g., customer data breach investigations.
5. The ability to communicate to all stakeholders in simple terms the requirements, challenges, and solutions.
Aviva operates a “smart working” policy, meaning that we spend approximately half of our time working in an office, with this role based in Norwich.

1. Salary: Circa £40,000 (location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
