About the Role
South Uttlesford Primary Care Network has an exciting opportunity for a self motivated and forward thinking emergency care practitioner (ECP) / paramedic, to provide dedicated support to our 4 general practices and our local population. The role is offered on a part time basis for 18 hours per week, over 2 days, for a 2 year fixed term contract with the possibility of further extension.
You will operate across a neighbourhood of practices, providing specialist paramedic resources and supporting the delivery of PCN service objectives within a surgery setting.
The main responsibilities include:
1. Work as an autonomous, accountable paramedic, providing a holistic approach, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to deliver high-quality patient services.
2. Work closely together, and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary PCN workforce including pharmacists and social prescribers.
3. Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to patients, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment.
4. Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or signpost patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions relating to minor illness or injury, supported by senior clinicians as needed.

Previous primary care experience is not essential, and we welcome applications from those working in other settings. Essential:
5. Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care.
6. Advanced level Clinical Assessment, Reasoning & Clinical Decision Making.
7. Advanced clinical practical skills.
8. Post registration experience in at least two of the following: GP/Minor illness, walk in centre, A&E, GP out of hours or the ambulance service.
9. Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients.
10. Be able to evaluate patient care confidently.
11. Experience of working to protocols and guidelines.
12. To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
13. Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively;
14. Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council.
15. Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working.
16. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
17. Ability to work flexibly in core hours to meet needs of service.
18. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Desirable:
19. Experience of working within a primary care setting.
20. Working towards advanced clinical practitioner status.
21. Mentorship or supervisory skills training.
