We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Facilities Maintenance Operative to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Morton Hall, this role is based on-site.
At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.
By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
As a Facilities Maintenance Operative, you play a crucial role in ensuring that both planned and reactive maintenance tasks within the prisons are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulations. Your work is essential to maintaining a secure and well-functioning environment.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week. You will work 10 days followed by 3 days off, then 5 days with 3 days off. The shift pattern includes working 1 in every 3 weekends on a rota basis which entitles you to an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.
You will be responsible for:
Perform general and semi-skilled maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of facilities.
Conduct monthly checks and tests on fire extinguisher equipment, along with regular inspections of fire hydrants and fire hoses.
Complete quarterly RCD testing to maintain electrical safety standards.
Inspect and maintain Misting Units to ensure they are functioning correctly.
Carry out fire door inspections to guarantee they meet safety regulations.
Perform monthly and annual emergency lighting checks to ensure proper illumination during emergencies.
Handle any other duties as required, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the facility.
What makes this role unique is you will work alongside the engineers in all maintenance across the site as well as working independently. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
