Full job description
The following is a brief indication of some of the elements of this varied and complex role:
1. Providing a first point of contact whether by telephone or face to face, or via our online consultation tool/online services to assist patients and ensure appropriate signposting to the most relevant services (including internal and external organisations).
2. Re-arranging of appointments and clinics when required.
3. Greeting patients and visitors at the front desk for appointments and queries.
4. Issuing prescriptions in line with Practice Protocols.
5. Handing out documents to patients in line with Practice Protocols.
6. Giving out results and other clinical information to patients in line with Practice Protocols.
7. Receiving of patient samples in line with Practice Protocols.
8. Investigating and responding to tasks and workflows directed to you by Clinicians, the management team or other relevant members of staff.
9. Emptying internal post trays and taking appropriate action with the content.
10. Attendance at staff and team meetings (as far as reasonably possible) and reading of regular Team Briefs.
11. To follow all Practice Policies.
12. To complete all mandatory training (e-learning).
13. Any other reasonable task as directed by your line manager or clinician.
In terms of the working week, there is some flexibility with start and finish times and can suit one person or as a job share, but there is a requirement to work a late shift which would be Friday until 8pm. There is an opportunity also for an individual who may wish to work 3:30-8:00 pm Monday to Friday.
