Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
To be part of this journey, this apprenticeship will offer you the chance for practical learning with 1-day will be spent at college and the remaining days at the salon making up a full-time position working 5-days a week.
Key responsibilities:
* Act as an ambassador of the salon at all times
* Maintain a suitably fashionable personal image
* Be available for work during all scheduled hours
* Help prepare the salon to receive clients

* Welcome clients and visitors into the salon

* Help to provide refreshments to clients and visitors
* Gown up and prepare clients prior to treatments
* Shampoo and apply conditioner treatments
* Blow-dry hair under supervision when requested
* Prepare equipment and materials for stylists to use
* Re-fill stock of frequently used materials
* Providing outstanding customer service
* Carry out reception duties
* Fulfil health and safety duties like skin testing clients
* Help maintain a safe working environment
* Tidy up and maintain the image of the salon
* Fully endorse the products and services of the salon
* Participate in periodic work performance reviews (1-1’s)
* Assist in the general security of the salon
Main training duties:
* Attend all scheduled training sessions
* Follow instructions and learn each new subject
* Provide suitable training models when requested
* Complete all project work and tests set by trainers
* Keep safe all records of assessment
* Participate in periodic formal training reviews
* Share your progress with your employer and salon colleagues

* Adhere to legal and organisational requirements for the safe use of products, tools, materials and equipment.
* Apply safe, hygienic, and effective methods of working and infection control, while completing hairdressing services.
* Use communication and etiquette that meets industry requirements, suits and is appropriate to the organisation.
* Maintain the client’s confidentiality and comfort (modesty, privacy) at the start and during the service.
* Advise clients (new and regular) pre, during and after service on the maintenance of the look, complementary services and retail products available in the salon.
* Promote yourself, your organisation, products and services via a variety of social channels.
* Carry out wider salon duties to support the salon business (e.g. services, bookings, payments, retail, upselling and sales).
* Use a range of products, tools, equipment used in Hairdressing services in accordance with legal organisational requirements.
* Complete and maintain client records in accordance with legal and organisational requirements.
* Work as part of a team to support the salon businesses.

* Restyle hair to create a personalised short or medium (above the shoulder) length hair cut, changing the shape, length and style hair using a range of cutting techniques.
* Complete a range of hair colouring and lightening services to change the depth and tone using current colouring techniques (e.g. freehand techniques, woven highlights or lowlights, root re-touch, half head and full head application, temporary, semi-permanent, demi- permanent, quasi-permanent, permanent colour and lighteners).
* Evaluate the results of the service.

Other requirements
This is a 27-month apprenticeship and applicants MUST BE free from full time education to be eligible to apply for it and have the minimum qualification level to apply for it Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK. Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher thank the apprenticeship standard on offer. Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study. Applicants MUST BE committed to the learning and stay to the end of the apprenticeship. Work will be based at Horsham with attendance at Chichester College
