What skills and experience we're looking for
The post will involve teaching at KS3 and KS4; A level teaching is also available for a suitably qualified candidate.
What the school offers its staff
St Margaret Ward is a happy, popular, oversubscribed 11-18 academy with an impressive record of success, acknowledged in our inspection in September 2021 (full report on school/Ofsted website).
We are extremely proud of our enthusiastic and ambitious staff who are committed to helping our students become the very best they can be and, as such, the Academy Directors are seeking an ambitious and dedicated individual who can help us in our mission.
The post arises from the existing second being promoted to Head of Department. We are therefore seeking to appoint an excellent teacher of English as well as someone who is able to be a highly effective second in department; someone who can work with the new Head of Department at this exciting time to continue the team’s journey to becoming outstanding.
The successful candidate will join a thriving and dynamic department of specialist English Language and Literature practitioners who achieve high standards as a result of exceptional team work and dedication. The newly appointed second in English will need to demonstrate their own passion and enthusiasm for the subject at all key stages as well as demonstrate curriculum leadership aptitude and qualities. There is an excellent programme of CPD in place to support our staff, including induction provision for all new members of staff. Being part of our Collegiate also brings many benefits, all of which are outlined in our recruitment pack.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Academy is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all of its employees to share this commitment. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Amendment Order 1986 and, as such, it will be necessary for a Submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous convictions
