Person Specification
Qualification & Training
Essential Criteria
* Registered nurse or operating department practitioner
* Relevant post-registration experience in HDU/ITU (At least 2 years in anaesthetic)
* Relevant post-registration qualification
* Mentorship qualification and experience in practice supervision and assessment
* Mentorship qualification or working towards advanced studies leading to BSc or evidence of further professional development
* Relevant training or post-registration qualification in Leadership and/or Management
* Substantial experience in perioperative and anaesthetic care, demonstrating comprehensive clinical knowledge in anaesthesia procedures, equipment, and patient safety protocols
Desirable Criteria
* Relevant MSc qualification or working towards attaining MSc
* In-depth computer skills
Organisational Management
Essential Criteria
* Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care according to individual needs
* Demonstrate an ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload and workload of others
* High standard of verbal and written communication skills
* Evidence of implementing change in practice
* Demonstrate ability to manage team schedules, allocate resources efficiently, and maintain high standards of care
* Proven experience in leadership role within perioperative setting, with ability to inspire, lead, and develop a multidisciplinary team
* Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with capability to respond effectively to clinical and operational challenges
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in staff sickness management
* Experience in quality improvement or project management
* Experience in innovation in practice
General
Essential Criteria
* Knowledge of clinical governance, quality standards, and regulatory compliance within anaesthetic and perioperative services
* Ability to implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives, conduct audits, and contribute to risk management and incident reporting
* Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a high-pressure environment and take proactive steps to address issues
* Strong organisational skills with ability to take initiative and prioritise tasks and support the team effectively during high-demand periods
* Ability to deal with stress in self and others
* Strong commitment to ongoing professional development, both for self and team members, fostering a culture of learning and improvement
