ASD Learning Support Assistant

Job Description:
Job Duties:
1. Provide support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in educational settings
2. Assist with classroom activities and help students with their learning and development
3. Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
4. Collaborate with teachers and parents to create a supportive learning environment
5. Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the relevant stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
6. Experience working with individuals with ASD or special educational needs
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
8. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
9. Patient, empathetic, and understanding attitude towards students
Education:
10. Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
11. Additional qualifications in special education or relevant field is desirable
Experience:
12. Prior experience in a similar role within an educational setting
13. Demonstrated understanding of ASD and its impact on learning and behaviour
Knowledge and Skills:
14. Familiarity with strategies for supporting individuals with ASD
15. Knowledge of educational practises and procedures
16. Ability to adapt and modify teaching methods to meet individual student needs
Preferred Qualifications:
17. Certification in Autism Awareness or related training
18. First aid certification
Working Conditions:
19. Work primarily within a school environment
20. Potential for occasional travel to training sessions or external meetings
21. Full-time hours, with occasional flexibility required
