We are looking for a dedicated individual to join an established and efficient team of Medical Secretaries working in a busy GP Practice.
Offering secretarial support for 16,000 patients, applicants must be hardworking and willing to go the extra mile. The workload is demanding and the successful candidate will need to enjoy a fast-paced environment, think on their feet and be flexible for office cover. The role requires someone with a keen eye for detail and proficient use of IT packages covering the Microsoft Office suite and clinical systems.

Position: Medical Secretary
Hours: 24 - 37 per week
Duration: Permanent
Report to: Practice Manager
Job Purpose: To provide a comprehensive secretarial service to doctors, nurses, the Practice Manager, and the wider clinical and administrative team. To ensure that work is completed accurately and efficiently with all enquiries professionally and courteously handled whilst upholding confidentiality.

Key Points
1. Managing referrals through the e-Referral system. Understanding referral routes and use of relevant forms and templates.
2. Carrying out assigned tasks from both clinical professionals and the wider team.
3. Dealing with patient enquiries.
4. Inviting patients into the surgery to discuss the results of recent investigations.
5. Typing of clinical letters, patient referrals, non-NHS letters, and reports.
6. Arranging and assisting with meetings including minute taking as required.
7. At all times observe the strict rules of confidentiality.
8. Familiarise yourself with the Staff Manual and follow practice policies and guidelines.

Qualifications
* Business Administration NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
Experience
* Experience of business administration in a high work demand environment.
* Experience of handling difficult conversations skilfully.
* Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft and email.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Experience of working in the wider NHS or primary care.
