Hourly Rate: £15 - £20 per hour (depending on experience)
N is a smart 19-year-old female with a great sense of humour and a big heart. N is Autistic, and she has some anxieties & sensory sensitivities which make everyday things challenging. She has low self-confidence and finds meeting new people and creating friendships difficult. N loves dogs, and the family dog is very important to her. She enjoys YouTube, computer games such as Minecraft & Pokemon Go or anything Pokemon related, and she also enjoys cooking and baking.
Hours: 4 hours per week @ £15 - £20 per hour (depending on experience). Hours will be broken into several weekly sessions. Enhanced DBS Clearance is essential.
Support will be at N’s pace, with some time initially spent getting to know one another. The aim is to support N in gradually developing confidence when accessing the community, extending to visiting the shop, joining social groups, using public transport, and exploring work/voluntary opportunities. It is really important that you have experience supporting others with Autism and knowledge of the challenges everyday life can bring. If you have some shared interests, that would be great. You will need to be comfortable around dogs.
The most important attributes are that you are warm and welcoming, calm by nature, patient & understanding, with a genuine interest in supporting others to live their best life. You should be willing to be interactive & encouraging in order to develop and improve life skills while promoting the importance of independence.
