Registered Manager
Reporting to: Responsible Individual/Director
Hours: 40 hrs./per week full-time
Annual Leave: 28 days (including public holidays)

Lansdowne Housing & Care is a newly established service provider (with legislative-bodies) providing registered care and support for disabled and vulnerable groups and individuals who may be homeless, and/or in need of accommodation.
We are seeking a Registered Manager to lead a development project for an Ofsted Regulated provision of Semi-independent Supported Living for Children and Young People (aged 16+) in Ashford, Surrey.
The property is located between Heathrow and Ashford, in a quiet, residential area, providing 6 studio flats, with large shared kitchen, open plan dining and community area, spacious garden; and a dedicated staff office.
General Requirements:
This is a full-time position, leading to the opportunity to become a Cluster Manager.
* The role will suit someone with a track record and understanding of Ofsted legislation and inspections; or someone who is ready to progress in their career, to take on this responsibility.
* Ultimately the successful candidate will play a key role in the development and delivery of this project, in view of attaining and managing multiple provisions.
Pre-requisites:
* A degree in Social Work, Youth Work, or Children, Young People and Families, and
* Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management) with significant experience.
* OR for an exceptional candidate who is willing to undertake additional professional learning/training:
o NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Working with Children and Young people); or
o Level 4 Children, Young People & Families Practitioner (Residential Pathway).
Must Have:
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar post, as a Deputy Manager
* Current DBS and Update service
* Current Driving License (preferred, but not essential)
Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Registered Manager your primary duties will be to:
1. Enrich the lives of children/young people in our care, helping them create a positive future.
2. Ensure the effective implementation of the:
* Children Act 1989 (Children & Young People’s Welfare)
* Care Standards Act 2000 (Staffing)
* Children Act 2004 (Safeguarding)
* Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023.
1. Ensure that any matters relating to child protection are managed in line with current legislation, national standards, and best safeguarding practice.
2. Obtain the best outcomes for each child and/or young person within the project, you will inevitably be on-call, and available to staff, management team and external statutory agencies.
3. Promote cooperation with young people, their families, other staff within the home, and other agencies, in order to meet the needs of the young people.
4. Prepare for, and attend annual reviews and CIC meetings, and ensure actions are completed.
5. Monitor arrangements for holidays, recreational outings, and social activities with young people to ensure the implementation of related risk assessments.
6. Ensure that there are regular stimulating meaningful activities for young people to engage in which reflect their personal interests and preferences and that these are further developed into new opportunities and experiences.
7. Ensure that the home environment is well maintained and presented, that it remains clean hygienic state, and is homely, warm, and personalised to the tastes and interests of young people.
8. Ensure all young people have an up-to-date support and placement plan that details the young person's care and support needs, including positive behaviour support plan. Ensuring these are up to date, relevant and all staff are aware and follow.
9. Promote young people’s inclusion and participation in the local community and ensure they have full access to community resources.
10. Embed a culture of high aspirations and ambition for young people in which they experience positive outcomes.
11. Ensure that all aspects of a young person’s support have been fully risk assessed.
12. Promote positive and supportive relationships with family, ensuring regular communication.
13. Liaise closely with all young people’s education settings to support agreed targets and learning outcomes.
Staff Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that staff understand their responsibilities and implement Lansdowne homes Safeguarding procedures.
2. Promote the health and safety of employees at work and people supported.
3. Ensure that all staff are provided with an appropriate induction, supervision, and appraisal.
4. Set and review targets and objectives for the staff.
5. Ensure the effective management of staff sickness and absence.
6. Promote a culture of continuous professional development for all.
7. Identify staff training and development needs.
8. Ensure performance reviews are undertaken in a timely manner.
9. Demonstrate professional ethics and behaviour at all times.
Leadership and Team Management:
* Maintain stewardship of the project underpinning our philosophy and service delivery practice framework.
* Demonstrate practical leadership in service provision.
* Co-ordinate visitations with professionals and external access to children’s and young people’s services.
* Provide leadership and coaching in practice to ensure best outcomes for children and young people.
* Ensure that all policies and procedures are implemented appropriately.
* Supervise and support staff ensuring professional development appropriate to meet the specific needs of children and young people.
* Ensure continuity of evidence-based practice and the completion of inductions, probationary periods, and appraisals.
Service Management:
* Maintain overall responsibility for the property ensuring that health and safety standards are monitored.
* Manage the project effectively and efficiently in a warm and caring environment.
* Conduct regular quality assurance inspections.
* Ensure all administration systems are up-to-date and fit for purpose.
* Work with the Finance Manager and manage the project’s devolved budget.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Qualifications:
* A minimum Level 5 or degree qualification in Health and Social Care, Children’s Residential Care, Youth Work, and/or Education.
Knowledge and Experience:
* Minimum 3 years’ proven experience of working with/supporting children, young people, their families, including those affected by trauma, and at risk of exploitation.
* Experience of working with multi-agency teams and individuals.
* Leading on Ofsted regulation, compliance, inspections, preparation, documentation and response to findings.
* Management of day-to-day operations.
* A good understanding of the development needs of children and young people.
* Development of Care Plans, Pathway Plans, Education and Health Care Plans.
* Understanding of trauma informed care.
* Implementation of effective Safeguarding practices.
* Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
* Knowledge of key social care services related to C&YP.
