What you will be working on: As a Commercial and Pre-Contracts Officer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of contractual agreements related to engineering services and operations. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including administering all aspects of the contract cycle, managing and negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies. The role requires a thorough understanding of contract law, risk management, and commercial opportunities. Additionally, you will have a close working relationship with the Directors, Finance, and Engineers. The Contracts and Compliance Officer will support all programmatic areas, including financial proposal reviews, contract administration, overseeing international and domestic contract processes, and leading compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead commercial activities and ensure the successful delivery of contracts, focusing on meeting client expectations while maintaining profitability for the organisation. Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and partners to ensure positive outcomes for the company while maintaining positive relationships. Draft and refine contractual agreements, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with organisational objectives and legal requirements. Leverage comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contract law, regulations, and practices in the UK markets and preferably in the Middle East Market to effectively negotiate, draft, and manage contracts tailored to specific regional requirements. Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in reviewing contract terms, identifying potential risks, and ensuring all contractual obligations are met to safeguard the interests of all parties involved. Conduct thorough risk assessments for each contract, identifying potential risks and opportunities and implementing strategies to mitigate risks while maximising profitability. Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth communication, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables. Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive plans that align with project schedules and ensure timely delivery of contracted services or products. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to contract management and compliance. Monitor contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle, track performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and achieve project milestones. Maintain a centralised file of all contracts and monitor commercial risks. Report on contract status and risk profiles in monthly meetings. Proactively identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimise contract management processes. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to contract management, commercial delivery, through continuous learning and professional development initiatives. To communicate effectively (verbally, in writing, and electronically) to meet the purpose of the job. Qualifications/ Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience negotiating and managing contracts. In-depth knowledge of contract law UK Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a reputable institution, preferably with a focus on commercial or contract law. Teamwork and collaboration Adaptability and willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic organization. Desirable Prior experience in Engineering Consultancy or the Construction Industry. Currently pursuing or completing a master's degree (LLM) in construction law or related field is preferred but not required.
