The Dash Group, based in Redruth, delivers a diverse range of services to businesses and consumers across Cornwall and beyond. As part of our continued expansion, we're recruiting a Head of HR to lead our dynamic HR team—an essential part of our multi-sector operation.
With around 170 staff across sites in Redruth, Truro, Bodmin and Saltash, this is a key leadership role for an experienced HR professional who can think strategically and act operationally to drive culture, change and innovation.
With our existing HR system due for replacement and our current HR Manager moving on, this is a great opportunity for someone with experience and drive to come in and help shape our business during an exciting period of regional expansion.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
As Head of HR, you’ll join the senior leadership team, working closely with the directors to shape and deliver business strategies. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about putting people first and driving a positive workplace culture. You will:
• Lead on all aspects of people and culture strategy
• Support recruitment, selection and retention processes
• Develop initiatives for team engagement, training and development
• Oversee and maintain HR policies and procedures
• Deliver leadership coaching on employee relations, compliance and performance management
• Drive the performance management process, identifying learning needs
• Generate and analyse HR reports to understand and influence employee behaviour
• Support the senior management team on HR matters
• Take responsibility for our small but highly capable HR team
• Oversee facilities management across Cornwall and Devon
role will require strategic oversight across several key functions, including:
Recruitment
o Develop strategies to attract high-quality candidates
o Regularly review job descriptions and adverts to keep them fresh and relevant
o Expand advertising through social media and alternative platforms
o Build relationships with recruitment partners and explore new talent channels
o Track recruitment costs by channel to ensure value for money
o Explore apprenticeships and available recruitment grants
Performance Management
o Evaluate employee performance, providing feedback and developing improvement plans
Training & Development
o Work with managers to ensure compliance with existing procedures
o Coach and support the senior management team
o Improve onboarding and induction to boost retention, including self-service elements and buddy schemes
o Promote personal development and employee wellbeing, with a focus on mental health support
o Hold regular check-ins with managers to foster a ‘can do’ culture
o Identify training needs across the business and manage training suppliers
o Design and deliver in-house training where possible
o Lead succession planning to future-proof leadership and key roles
Retention
o Keep internal communication fresh and relevant
o Help define a positive workplace culture
o Understand what motivates our people—why they join, stay and what benefits matter most
o Mentor staff, with a focus on developing emerging, younger managers
o Lead and evolve the staff appraisal process
Employee Relations
o Address employee concerns and resolve workplace disputes constructively
o Foster a positive, inclusive work environment
o Develop strategies to boost morale and engagement across teams
Reward
o Develop fair pay structures based on performance, ability and service
o Conduct salary benchmarking
o Design incentive and retention strategies
Discipline & Attendance
o Develop clear attendance and sickness policies

Legal
o Keep updated on employment law changes and legal compliance
o Deliver manager briefings on legal changes
External Agencies
o Build strong relationships with external partners and service providers
o Liaise with external health & safety providers to ensure compliance and best practice
Systems, Procedures and Policies
o Drive efficiency through HR system integration
o Use data analysis to inform decision-making, e.g. recruitment strategies
o Maintain and communicate HR policies and documentation
o Design and refine organisational structures
Personal Specification
Essential
o Extensive, demonstratable experience in a senior, culture-shaping, HR role
o Strong writing and creative thinking skills
o Excellent IT skills
o Outstanding management and communication skills
o Proven ability to inspire, mentor and lead others
o Skilled in driving change and implementing effective processes
o Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure
o Full UK driving licence

o CIPD Level 7 Qualification

Reporting to: The Directors
Responsible for: HR & Facilities Team
Based: Office-based role at our Redruth Site, with travel to Saltash, Bodmin and Truro as needed.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000, depending on experience
Holiday Entitlement: 5.6 weeks per year (including Bank Holidays), with additional entitlement based on length of service. Holiday benefit – For every continuous year you’re with us, you’ll receive an extra day of holiday, up to a maximum of five.
