Making a Difference
At our GKN Filton site, we design and manufacture large structural wing assemblies and metallic components for civil and military aircraft. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Chemical Processes & Surface Treatments to lead a multidisciplinary team focused on process control, waste elimination, and productivity improvements using Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) methodology. You will ensure compliance, deploy manufacturing processes, and deliver robust technology solutions for materials, tooling, and assembly.
How You'll Contribute
* Promote safety-first culture and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
* Maintain and develop processes meeting internal, customer, and regulatory standards.
* Develop technical solutions for complex manufacturing problems, fulfilling safety, quality, productivity, and business requirements.
* Lead engineering teams to achieve measurable results aligned with operational and program goals.
* Create and implement manufacturing engineering training strategies and foster team development.
* Build a culture of process control and ZDM through high process capability system designs.
* Manage tooling and production planning from concept to production.
* Oversee product development, quoting, tooling, and process changes, ensuring cost and schedule adherence.
* Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Continuously improve processes via Lean initiatives.
What You'll Bring
* Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, preferably with a Chemical or Industrial Engineering Degree.
* Extensive knowledge of Surface Treatments such as Anodising, Conversion Coating, Passivation, Painting, and Shot peening.
* Experience with new product/process introduction and process improvements.
* Ability to influence and build trust within a global organization.
* Knowledge of LEAN processes and practices.
* Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
* Familiarity with quality systems like ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000.
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
* Understanding of export compliance and SSA requirements.
* Additional desirable skills include project management, auditor qualification, NADCAP experience, metallurgy, and chemical regulation knowledge.
