About The School
This School, located in the beautiful countryside of Godalming, is a specialist day and residential school for students aged 7-19 with a range of learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech, language, and communication needs, and other associated learning challenges. They are committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing environment that supports every student in achieving their full potential.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support students in both classroom and one-to-one settings, ensuring they receive the tailored education and care they need. You will play an integral role in fostering a positive learning atmosphere, helping students develop their academic skills, confidence, and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management
2. Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN)
3. Support students in achieving individual learning goals outlined in their EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans)
4. Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional wellbeing
5. Assist in maintaining accurate student records and reports
6. Participate in extracurricular activities, trips, and other school events
7. Collaborate with other staff members and contribute to the overall development of the school community
Qualifications and Skills:
8. Previous experience working in a special education or SEN setting is desirable but not essential
9. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
10. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs
11. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
12. Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, are an advantage
13. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
